Prototypes Track
Call for Prototype Demonstrations
This track is organized by Special Interest Group on Decision Sciences and Analytics (SIGDSA), in cooperation with the Special Interest Group on Business Intelligence and Analytics (Fachgruppe BIA) of the German Informatics Society (Gesellschaft für Informatik, GI).
Proposals for prototype demonstrations and (design science-oriented) idea papers are invited for submission to the Pre-ICIS 2019 SIGDSA Symposium. Aligned with the Symposium theme of Inspiring mindset for Innovation with Business Analytics and Data Science, we seek:
A. prototype demonstration proposals and
B. idea papers
Submissions can be related to (but not limited to) business intelligence, big data analytics, data federation, data management and analytics in the cloud (incl. containerized analytics and function-as-a-service for analytics), data catalogs, process mining, ETL and business intelligence automation and security, streaming data management, social media analytics, machine and deep learning, embedded analytics (e.g. Internet of Things, or IoT), visual analytics, cognitive computing and artificial intelligence, model sharing, deployment and administration systems, analytics-oriented data generation for teaching, development, or testing, or platforms for community-based model development / analytics competitions or other emerging data management and analytic technologies. Submissions may also highlight novel applications in one or more business sectors, e.g., financial services, manufacturing, logistics, retail, pharmaceutical, healthcare, government, agribusiness, hospitality, IT services, education and entertainment, supply chain, etc. The contributions should ignite a joint brainstorming session on future trajectories for business intelligence and analytics (BIA) research.
A. Prototypes
Prototype demonstrations showcasing innovative methodological developments or applications of artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, text mining, and other data analytics/decision support techniques are encouraged. Prototypes should highlight aspects such as novelty, architecture, functioning, and ongoing/future work.
This high visibility category is different from paper presentation category and provides an opportunity to display a working artifact to an audience in an interactive manner. Prototype demonstrations will involve a poster display (printed or electronic) and a live demonstration of prototype to the attendees.
B. Design science Idea papers
Idea papers are supposed to identify innovative future lines of design-oriented BIA research related to the topics discussed above. The idea papers should include a convincing motivation, a brief overview on the relevant state of the art, the core idea, possible contributions to research and practice, and an outline of a possible course of the research project.
Submission and Publication Guidelines
Prototype proposals and idea papers can be submitted in one of two formats (i) extended abstract: two to three single-spaced pages in length, or (ii) complete papers: six to seven pages in length. In addition to the Title, Abstract, and Keywords, a prototype proposal should contain only one or two sections describing the prototype or core research idea to be showcased, highlighting the key features and novelty. Submission type should be mentioned in the submission as Prototype Demonstration or Design Research Idea Paper respectively. Submission format details will be provided soon.
Papers will be submitted through Conferency submission system (submitting author needs to create an account to submit the paper to SIGDSA2019): All submitted manuscripts (proposals) will go through a double-blind review process.
Important Dates
Please see Important Dates section for key dates.
Best Prototype Award
Prototypes/demonstrations (not the idea papers) will be evaluated at the conference by a panel of judges. One prototype will be selected for the “Best Prototype” award recognition at the symposium.
